Indie Go Rock recently conducted a 5 Quick Questions update with one of our favorite blues female guitarist-vocalists, Peach. During February of 2016 Peach returned to Copenhagen to play with her band at her favorite club, the cozy Café Bartof. Club owners Joacim “Jokke” Friss Holm and Charlotte Bertelsen had graciously agreed that recording equipment could be brought for a live recording session. Peach and The Almost Blues Band invited keyboard player and composer Ken Stange (Joe Cocker, Roger Miller, Jose Feliciano) to come over for the recording. Ken Stange had played with Peach for many years in her Los Angeles band. The results of the live recording, “A Night in Copenhagen’ was critically-acclaimed and has led to what looks to be a follow-up album in the works for this talented musician. Here’s 5 Quick Questions with Peach.
IGR: What’s new with Peach, musically-speaking, since the release of the “A Night in Copenhagen” CD?
Peach: Shortly after the release of “A Night in Copenhagen,” I was told that I needed to have a heart bypass surgery. The surgery happened about a week later. Naturally, this meant that I couldn’t travel this summer to Copenhagen and tour. But GOOD NEWS…..it means I CAN go for next summer season (2018).
IGR: A lot of crazy things have taken place in the world since you released your last album. Do you see your songwriting possibly taking a social/political turn in lieu of these newest world developments?
Peach: Reply: It’s possible I might write about my political views, but I would also like to join my daughter sometime soon to march and protest.
IGR: Are Copenhagen and Denmark still in Peach’s plans for next year, both touring- and recording-wise?
Peach: Yes, the plan is to tour and play there in June/July/August. And somewhere in-between get into a studio to record with the Danish group, The Almost Blues Band (www.AlmostBluesBand.dk). We will more than likely record at a country house in Præstø, Denmark (the home of our guitarist and soundman extraordinaire Michael Engman Rønnow).
IGR: What’s the life of a musician like when they’re NOT creating music?
Peach: I’ve been swimming almost every day. Recently went up north to see the total eclipse of the sun in Idaho and Yellowstone National Park. I’m also a big fan of grilling and B-B-Q’ing with family and friends.
IGR: In parting, any Peach Pearls of Wisdom you’d care to share with our readers?
Peach: Let’s all just keep following our dreams……’cause then it’s hard to regret anything!
